This project represented a significant architectural challenge, given the limited context in which it was developed. The building is adjacent to an existing building, located on the northern border and in adherence to the neighboring structure, also positioned on the border. Despite these limitations, the extension is designed to be completely independent.

The new building occupies the area of the previous garage, creating two new garages on the ground floor, accompanied by a service area, a portico and an entrance that leads to a staircase to access the new real estate unit, developed entirely on the first floor.

A distinctive and recurring element in the architecture designed by GMRT is the double volume, present in the living area. Characterized by large windows and a Velux, the double volume guarantees brightness and a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, giving an impression of spaciousness and allowing access to an attic that overlooks this space.

The internal staircase, made of wood and metal, has steps of different essences, creating a dynamic visual effect. The floral metal balustrade adds a touch of elegance, while the exposed wooden ceiling contributes to a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The entrance garden, with the portico that integrates perfectly with the modern volumes of the building, offers a harmonious transition between exterior and interior.

The energy design takes sustainability into account, focusing on a fully electric system with photovoltaic system, heat pumps and a thermo fireplace. The building is classified in high energy class, highlighting the commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

This extension is an example of how it is possible to optimize a limited space, creating a modern and independent housing unit, attentive to the needs of comfort and sustainability.
